Baby Aernie's First Picture

We wanted to share with all of you our baby's first picture taken at 9 1/2 weeks. We will be getting a full ultrasound at the end of August and we are hoping to find out the gender of the baby at that time as well. We have recently discovered that they do not disclose the gender of a baby before birth in Scotland so we are really hoping they will be able to tell us before we head out. The baby is still doing well, though I am looking forward to the nausea subsiding for more than a day at a time.

In other news...our visas have been approved! We are officially on our way to Aberdeen! We will be leaving Nebraska August 31st for Chicago and then flying out on Tuesday, September 2nd. I know there is a lot to do before we head out, but I am excited that the paperwork is out of the way.

Jeff and I are enjoying this week of freedom as we have the house to ourselves. My family is on vacation for the week in Colorado so we are enjoying a quiet house. We are looking forward to Jeff's oldest brother visiting us from Denver this week. We need to head out to go pick him up from the airport...

Aberdeen Arrivals

Although we have been unable to increase the frequency of our presence in the "blogosphere," we have been hard at work (literally) in preparations for our move to the UK. After a few difficult weeks of dealing with academic transcript paperwork, we have received all the necessary documents and information to apply for our visas and hope to arrive in Aberdeen on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. We would appreciate your prayers for the application process. We would love to be able to get off without any last minute road blocks (or in this case, ocean blocks?).

In addition, Allison and I's penchant for combining major life events into small periods of time will continue in the UK. Our arrival in Aberdeen in September will be overshadowed by the arrival of our first child there at the end of January. God has providentially been providing excellent care for both mother and child here in Nebraska and we are confident that he will continue this action across the pond.

Most importantly, Allison and I have been keeping our competitive natures alive and well. There are normally daily competitions for the Aernie family Foosball title and numerous forays into a variety of team card games.

Blessings.
